Acknowledging Transferred Cases |
Top Previous Next |
When a case has been submitted to a Local Registrar for approval, the designated registrar may not be the registrar of record (for filing purposes). The Local Registrar of Record is defined to be the Local Registrar for the municipality of where the decedent's death occurred. In the event where the Funeral Home designates a Local Registrar that is not the registrar of record, that Local Registrar may review the case for acceptance, however, the case becomes filed with the Local Registrar of Record after 24 hours, at which then EDRS automatically transfers the case. The receiving Local Registrar [of Record] must then acknowledge the transfer to assure responsibility for handling the case in the future, such as when issuing certified copies of the death certificate.
